About Brian

I’ve been making photographs for over 30 years, but somewhere along the way I realized photography isn’t really about cameras.

It’s about curiosity.

It’s about paying attention.

It’s about seeing something everyone else walked past.

Like a lot of photographers, I spent years chasing the latest gear, reading reviews, and convincing myself the next camera would somehow make me a better photographer. Eventually, I figured out that the best photographs come from experience, observation, and simply getting out there—not from buying another lens.

Pushing Buttons is where I explore everything surrounding photography: creativity, gear, the photography community, YouTube culture, and the sometimes ridiculous things we tell ourselves as creators. Some days that means talking about cameras. Other days it’s about why we stop creating, why comparison steals our motivation, or why the internet has a habit of making simple hobbies unnecessarily complicated.

Photography has been part of my life for decades. I’ve worked professionally, photographed weddings and portraits, built creative businesses, and spent years teaching people online. Along the way I’ve learned that every hobby has people who want to make it more complicated than it needs to be.

I prefer the opposite.

I believe photography should be fun. You don’t need permission to call yourself a photographer. You don’t need the newest camera. You don’t need perfect settings or a viral Instagram account. You just need to enjoy making photographs.

If my videos convince you to pick up your camera one more time, stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, or simply remind you why you fell in love with photography in the first place, then I’ve accomplished exactly what I set out to do.

Thanks for stopping by. Now quit reading about photography and go make some pictures.
